BBAM Limited Partnership has announced an agreement to acquire 30 CFM International LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B spare engines, expanding its engine portfolio to support operators of Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The agreement strengthens BBAM’s engine portfolio, which already includes both CFM56 and LEAP engines. It also represents the company’s first direct engine order with CFM International.

Steve Zissis, President and CEO of BBAM, said the agreement marks a new stage in the companies’ long-standing relationship and reflects BBAM’s focus on providing customers with advanced and efficient engine solutions.

BBAM has developed a substantial engine portfolio over the years, covering both current and previous-generation CFM propulsion platforms. The latest agreement adds additional LEAP spare-engine capacity to support operators of next-generation narrowbody aircraft.

Gaël Méheust, President and CEO of CFM International, said the agreement demonstrates the strength of the relationship between CFM and BBAM. He also highlighted the role of LEAP engines in supporting airline efficiency, reliability and lower emissions.

CFM has delivered more than 10,000 LEAP engines to date, making the programme one of the fastest-growing commercial aviation engine programmes. The LEAP family powers Airbus A320neo family and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft operated by airlines around the world.

CFM continues to develop the LEAP fleet through technology and durability improvements. These include a high-pressure turbine (HPT) durability kit, designed to extend time on wing, and a reverse bleed system (RBS) intended to reduce airline maintenance requirements.

The company is also focused on improving engine availability through MRO performance and competitive cost of ownership, supported by its open MRO ecosystem.

The latest BBAM agreement highlights the growing importance of spare-engine portfolios as airlines and lessors expand fleets of next-generation narrowbody aircraft and seek reliable aftermarket support.
